This track sets up the story of the album - an American musician and an English poet following their hearts to their Beloved.
The final couplet is a real cri de couer. After months trying to direct an impossible lead in a play he'd written, Gaz opened the door one June night to a moon the size of a house framed by the red roses around his door, lost everything briefly in the beauty of the eternal present and just found himself saying "I want to leave me behind."

He still does. It's the essential message of this album.

The Beloved is Avatar Meher Baba, whose favourite poet was Hafiz and whose favourite poetic form the ghazal (a Persian love lyric).
